Fatty types of fish (salmon, sardines, etc.) are a great source of healthy fats and high-quality protein.

Majority of Americans are severely deficient in omega-3 fatty acids. Consuming these fatty fish, in addition to supplementing with a quality omega-3 fatty acid, can help improve on your ratios.

Research supports that people who eat more fish have a lower risk of several conditions, including heart disease, dementia, and depression.

Be sure your fish come from “clean” waters. Never buy “farmed” fish. Always look for “wild-caught” options.

Here are a few fish you should NEVER consume because of higher levels of mercury and PCB’s, along with other factors:

  • Bluefin Tuna
  • Chilean Sea Bass
  • Grouper
  • Monkfish
  • Orange Roughy
  • Farmed Salmon

If you eat fish on a regular basis, it might be a smart idea to have a hair analysis test done to see what your toxicity levels are. They may be too high. I run these tests on my patients regularly and would be happy to help you out if this is a concern. Check out www.corehealthlabs.com to learn more.

Here’s to being healthy!
