003 – If You are not Testing You are Guessing

Hey guys, it’s dr. Kelly and today’s topic is you’re not testing. You’re guessing. Hi. It’s dr. Will be found in the description box. Alright, let’s get started.  Okay. So what is this? If you’re not testing you’re guessing kind of nonsense going on over here?  Let’s talk about that. So ultimately if you’re not testing your overall health and well-being then anything and everything you’re trying to do to help yourself, whether it’s through diet nutrition exercise yoga meditation medication, whatever the case may be.

You’re guessing and that’s not like that’s shotgun approach to health and I don’t know about you but one body is always get got huh. One body is all that we’ve got we got to take care of it the best that we can in order for it to cooperate and be as healthy as it can be for us for the longevity of what we have here.

A lot of people are really concerned about their finances which is a huge deal. Like we’ve got to plan for our future but so many people are spending all of this time planning for their future and busting their tails to plan for their future and to have a retirement only to make it to retirement and now spend all of that money trying to restore their health because they didn’t take care of themselves along the way.

Investing in you in your health and well-being should be an is in my opinion. The number one most important investment that you could be making. So this whole if you’re not testing your guessing thing, what does that mean? Well, So we do comprehensive lab analysis in our office. Which what does that mean?

We do blood work. Okay, that’s not different to some degree lot of you guys have already had blood work done, but I’ll tell you why ours is different here in a second. We also do hair analysis, which most of the population still has had not like hasn’t heard about that at all. This is not genetic testing.

This is actually a way that we can test for different levels of toxicity in your body as well as checking out. The Essential Elements your minerals your electrolytes. We get more accurate measurements through your hair then we do through the blood then we also do different urinalysis and urine challenges and we can check the stool as well.

So anything and everything we can test and get a good idea of what’s going on with your body. So, okay. I know what most of you guys are saying. I already have blood work done. Like how is this any different or my blood work comes back and I’m totally healthy. There’s a couple of different things that I’d like to touch on is to why our lab analysis is entirely different.

The number one first reason would be we don’t look at clinical ranges. Now, what does that mean what our clinical rages so, you know when you get your blood work back and it shows you on the right hand side normally of the sheet that you get back and it’s all black and white. Nothing makes sense.

There’s a bunch of numbers and it’s a range. There’s a low number and a high number. And really nobody pays attention to that. The only thing you guys are looking for is to see if anything was in bold print in the center column generally is where it will show up and has an HR and L by it. Is it higher?

Is it low? Okay. So first off these clinical ranges. The way that those are determined. I don’t know if you realize this but it’s the average of an average population. Okay, it’s average of the average population here in the US. So let me ask you a question. Do you really believe Americans are getting healthier the longer that were around or would you believe that Americans are actually getting more sick.

I believe they’re getting sicker. So and our life expectancy is reflecting that we’re supposed to be the most medically Advanced population country in the world yet. We’re ranked 38th for life expectancy. Hmm. Probably not doing something right here. I don’t know but that doesn’t make sense to me.

So the average of an average population other although a little bit, uh, can’t talk today also known as. The average of the Sikh population. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be the average of sick. So one of the biggest differences is we look at narrow a ranges. So the ranges of blood have skewed towards being not better for us not being able to pick up information quicker, but actually.

You are not going to be labeled with a problem until you’re in a more advanced state of that problem or that pathology that sickness. So in other words, you have to be more sick in order for your doctor to find out that something’s wrong based off of these new ranges. And also here’s another thing some of the new docks that are coming out have no idea about how the Rangers have actually shifted.

I didn’t even know about this but I am constantly learning and delving and researching and in continuing education where I’m being fed information all the time and it was. Opener for me I had no idea. I didn’t know to know any better. That’s what most of us do like, we don’t we just don’t know to know.

So it’s alarming how much they’ve actually change now some of you are aware that they keep lowering cholesterol levels. There’s just like with blood pressure. They keep lowering that as well some of that may be in our benefit some of it may also not and might be more of a medical like medication-related decision, which we won’t get into that right now, but the biggest thing is in order for you to be diagnosed with a problem.

The way that works is things have to come back out of range and your blood work when they’re out of range. Now, you can be labeled or diagnosed with some sort of a problem like hypercholesterolemia, or you have high cholesterol that doesn’t happen unless your cholesterol range is outside of that clinical Norm.

However, like I’m saying, They can’t diagnose unless you’re out of range and since those of skewed to a Sikh population. Ultimately you have to be more sick in order for them to say something’s wrong with you again. I don’t want to be average of sick. I don’t think you would want to be average.

It’s either this also can be an explanation as to why I have patients come in to me like well, I’ve been to every place and I’ve had a ton of testing done and nobody knows what’s wrong with me. Everything comes back normal. Here’s the thing. It’s not that you’re not sick. You’re just not sticking off for them to be able to do anything.

That’s unfortunately what the standard of care has done for us right now. So the cool thing about what we do is we look at a narrow range. I wanted to catch things before they become more advanced. So.  We will like for example. An inflammatory marker known as your sed rate you want that range to be at zero?

Like that’s the low end of normal is 0 well 30 years ago that range was from 028. So if you were outside or above an eight, you are really inflamed that has skewed to where now the high end of normal is. So if you get your range back and you scored like your inflammatory marker came back at a 15, you’re considered like smack dab in the middle of that range, like totally healthy nothing wrong with you thirty years ago.

You would have been screaming. Hi chronic inflammation major problem. And what have we learned about inflammation in the last decade. It is part of the breakdown of the body is one of the first things that happens it is tied to every disease process that you are ever going to potentially. So the best way to stay healthy is to keep your inflammatory level low.

Wow, those ranges are not doing us any favors at all everybody. The reason why it’s that way is because everybody’s walking around inflamed. So no that’s not normal. It’s just incredibly common and now unfortunately those clinical ranges have been skewed to that.  So looking at a narrower range and catching problems before they become more advanced is one of the ways that the blood work that we do is entirely.

The other way that it’s entirely different is I get to order whatever I want to so between my blood and my hair my basic like Viewpoint kind of starting place unless we’re going to add in other all cart markers, which we can totally do based off of what is going on with you what you’re concerned about what’s around it and what’s ran in your family and just get a really good overview just that Foundation.

That we do there’s a hundred markers in there. You know, you’re lucky to even have 10 or 15 ran at most that I’ve seen coming back from just a good physical like annual exam where you don’t have symptoms you’re just going in for your checks was maybe 40 but that’s like high most of the time as well below 20.

What does that mean? They’re not checking what they could. Okay, and if there’s a problem it’s going to show up in your blood before it shows up long long time down the road before it would show up on some sort of a scan or a biopsy or again. Worst case scenario, you’re waiting for a symptom to show up.

So what I do is considered investigational and I like to be able to investigate the mean that’s wouldn’t you rather have somebody investigating your health and making sure there are no little things Brewing long before you actually end up with a problem. The other side of being able to do investigative Madison is that I get to look at every single system in your body and I really thoroughly go through and see what’s going on.

And how are they related to each other? This is really the only way to actually figure out. Like where is the breakdown happening? Where is the cause of the problem that’s going on here that you didn’t even know existed because one you don’t have symptoms or maybe you do have symptoms, but the symptoms are not the best judge of where the cause of the problem actually is.

So it’s another huge way that what we do is very different. It’s much more thorough and has a better overall. Um predictive value because we’re looking at things before they become problematic. So the whole testing if you’re not testing you’re guessing kind of scenario this also ties in to you know, we’re very good at self-medicating and a lot of us really do want to be healthy.

So there are plenty of people it’s was in a survey. There’s like 90 some odd percent of the population in the US that’s actually currently taking. That’s great and scary. How do you know that what you’re taking is what you need or that’s it’s working and that the dose is right or that the quality is what it needs to be like the supplement world.

It is FDA-approved. It’s not really well. It’s up to you. It’s approved. It’s not regulated. There are certifications to try to create standards. But there’s a lot of junk out there so not to get into that that will be a whole other video podcast series coming up of like how do you know what to take?

The biggest thing is please do not be purchasing any kind of nutrition from the grocery store from the Bulk Food Stores a lot of the different chains. There’s there can be good products there. But there’s a lot that are also very questionable. So if you can’t get it from a natural healthcare provider like myself, which.

Worry most of us are able to ship all over the place. If you don’t live right with us, you don’t have to have an appointment for these types of things either so you can get it from a natural health care provider or if you’re going to go to a store one that actually has it area like your Sprouts your Whole Foods your natural grocers or Vitamin Cottage some of the other chains that are more your natural health food stores.

Talk to the person in charge of that department and they can help better guide you based off of the information that they have I would say that would be a better place to start but still ultimately most people start taking nutrition because they think it’s what they need or it sounds like something that they need or one of their friends.

Tell them. Hey, I’m taking this you should do. That’s fine. And dandy if that’s exactly what your body needs. And then again, are you getting the right dose? Are you getting a good quality? We don’t know if you’re currently taking nutrition and you come in and you do comprehensive lab analysis with me.

Those results are based or it’s not based but those results include. You trying to do what you’re doing and if things are still out of range. It just could simply mean you’re not taking the right thing. Or maybe you don’t you’re not getting the right dose or maybe again the Purity the quality.

Isn’t what it needs to be in order for your body to absorb it so very long-winded answer to if you’re not testing your guessing and we should not be playing Russian roulette with our health.
