Sleep is one of the most important variables when it comes to your health. If my patient has a sleep problem, we’re swimming upstream with whatever health condition we’re trying to improve unless we address the sleep issue in conjunction.
Poor sleep is one of the main contributors to insulin resistance, which puts you on the path for becoming diabetic.
It also completely alters your hormone balance leading to a whole laundry list of health problems.
Lack of sleep decreases physical and mental performance levels as well. When it comes to improving brain function, quality sleep is a must.
Bad sleep is one of the strongest risk factors for weight gain and obesity. One study linked insufficient sleep to an 89% increased risk of obesity in children and a 55% increased risk in adults. Yikes!
