If you know me at all, then you know I’m a HUGE fan of getting outside and unplugging from the hustle and bustle of life. It’s essential for my wellbeing and I believe it is essential for yours as well.

Many of us spend our workdays indoors under fake lighting in front of the glow of a computer screen only to return home and continue basking under fake lighting and the harmful blue light from our favorite technological devices.

There is big research being done studying the benefits of being in nature on the human body. Here is a list of what’s been suggested thus far:

  • Walking in nature improves short-term memory
  • Being outdoors has de-stressing effects
  • Spending time outside reduces inflammation
  • Enjoying the great outdoors decreases fatigue
  • Outdoor adventures can decrease depression & anxiety
  • Being outside can protect your vision
  • Spending time outdoors can lower your blood pressure
  • It can improve your ability to focus
  • It can increase performance on creative tasks
  • Spending time outside may even prevent cancer
  • Forests may boost your immune system
  • Being outside is associated with a lower risk of early death

Spending even 10 minutes walking in nature can boost your mood, creating a more positive outlook on life, for at least 2 hours. Talk about an amazing return on investment!

Tell me, what’s your favorite outdoor activity?

Here’s to being Healthy!
