The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for. ~Zig Ziglar

As outlined by “The Science of Gratitude” (2018) paper, there are several benefits of gratitude.

For the individual specifically:

  • increased happiness and positive mood
  • more satisfaction with life
  • less materialistic
  • less likely to experience burnout
  • better physical health
  • better sleep
  • less fatigue
  • lower levels of cellular inflammation
  • greater resiliency
  • encourages the development of patience, humility, and wisdom

The researchers determined that gratitude does 4 things:

  1. Disconnects us from toxic, negative emotions.
  2. Expressing gratitude helps us even if we don’t share it with someone.
  3. The positive effects compound like interest.
  4. Trains the brain to be more in tune with experiencing gratitude.

A positive plus a positive, equal more positives.

What is something you’re grateful for?
